Lower reach: John Martin Dam <br />to ColoradofKansas stateline with a $100,000 state budget. Upper reach: Pueblo/Otero <br />County line to John Martin Dam with a $50,000 state budget. The total study <br />authorization was for $150,000. An additional $50,000 was added by the 1997 Colorado <br />General Assembly for aerial mapping and groundwater analysis initiatives which were <br />identified for the Upper Reach once the study process was undertaken. <br /> <br />By contract dated August 9, 1996 with the Albuquerque District, Corps of Engineers, the <br />CWCB and Corps are investigating problems related to recent flooding so as to identify <br />and evaluate potential solutions to address channel conveyance, sediment deposit, <br />vegetative management, reservoir operations, and riparian plantings and removal for <br />Lower Reach. This water resource study is a multi-objective study for the development <br />ofa management plan that will assist in mitigating future flood losses in harmony with <br />,,;:,er water resource interests.
