<br />. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Water Quality Standards for Salinity-Colorado River System <br /> <br />) <br /> <br />The Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Forum will hold its next meeting in Silverthore, <br />Colorado on June 5, 2002. One of the majoragenda items will be consideration of the draft "2002 Review, <br />Water Quality Standards for Salinity, Colorado River System" (2002 Review) that has been prepared by <br />the Forum's Work Group. Since issuance of the 1999 Review, salinity control measures installed has <br />ipcreased from 721,000 tons/year to 863,300 tons/year. Salinity control measures leading to the removal <br />of an additional 946,700 tons of salt must be implemented by 2020 to meet the Program goal of <br />approximately 1.8 million tons of salt-load reduction annually. <br /> <br />The draft 2002 Review recommends no change in the numeric criteria and proposes a Plan of <br />Implementation for controlling salinity. It is anticipated that the Forum will authorize the release of the <br />2002 Review for public comment at its June 5th meeting. Two public information work shops will be held <br />in the Basin to receive comments prior to issuance of the final document. Following adoption of a [mal <br />report by the Forum, the report will be submitted to the State Water Resources Control Board for its <br />consideration. Following adoption by the State, the report is submitted to the U.S. Environmental <br />Protection Agency (EP A) for its consideration for approval. <br /> <br />California Re~ional Water Ouality Control Board. Colorado River Basin Region <br /> <br />Included in the Board folder, as an information item, is a copy of the Public Notice issued by the <br />Colorado River Basin Region of the Regional Water Quality Control Board announcing it will be holding <br />a public hearing, on June 26, 2002, to receive comments regarding its draft 2001 Triennial Review of its <br />Basin Plan.
