<br />Oescription of t~e Study Area <br /> <br />The Dunham Point Unit would be located in southwestern Colorado, about <br /> <br />15 miles north of Cortez (see map 1-1). <br /> <br />U.S. Highwavs 160 and 666 and <br /> <br />Colorado State Highwav 145 are the primary roads to the project area. Tlte <br /> <br />nearest cOlIDDunitv to tlte project site is the small town of Dolores tltat is <br /> <br />about 7 miles south along the Dolores Ri.ver. <br /> <br />'!'11e project site is located on U.S. Forest Service land. '!'11e site is <br /> <br />covered witlt pinon and juniper; tlte elevation ranges from about 7,000 feet <br /> <br />to 8,000 feet. <br />T'1e study area is i.n the Dolores Project area.
