HYDRqSALINITY MONITORING AND EVALUATION <br /> <br />1. Set-ting <br /> <br />a. Irrigation Del ivery Systems: The Grand Valley project area obtains <br />wa-ter for irrigation through the different canal systems located in <br />-the, Valley. The irrigation monitoring sites were establ ished' in <br />various locations and under different canal systems. Irrigation wa-ter <br />from the Colorado River is del ivered -to -the farm through both private <br />and Federa I cana I systems. The pr i vate systems i nc I ude the Grand <br />Valley Irrigation Company, Palisade Irrigation District, Mesa County <br />irrigation District, Orchard Mesa Irrigation District and Redlands <br />Water and Power Company. The Federal System includes the Government <br />Hi gh line Cana I. Each pr i vate cana I system de livers water to a large <br />number of I atera I s wh i ch are independent I y owned and operated. The <br />lateral under Government Highl ine 'Canal are mostly under Federal <br />control. Irrigation water from the various laterals are del ivered .to <br />individual fields through open ditches, lined or unlined and also <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />,.'1 <br />
