A description of each column is
given below.

Column Description
(I) Site ID Code.
(2) Type of crops.
(3) Number of acres,
(4) Irrigation water applied by the system.
(5) Irrigation water applied less 10% (' .9)
(This is due to evaporation before the
water hits the ground.)

(6) RainfalL
(7) Total water that infiltrated the soil
(8) Change in soil moisture.
(9) Potential ET needed for crop growth.
(10) Actual ET based on soil moisture, total
water, and potential ET.
(I I) Deep percolation
(12) Irrigation efficiency: Ratio of water
used to the total water applied.
Columns {[ (10) - (6) + (8)]/ (4) }
(13) ET percent: Ratio of water applied to
water needed. When this number is
greater than 100, the crop received
excess water. This can be attributed
to:

. The cooperator had received sufficient
irrigation water management training
resulting in proper management of the
irrigation system.

. The irrigation system had been designed with
"built in" system efficiencies.

. The farmer did not receive enough water to
over irrigate.

With the abundant water supply this year it
appears that the project is meeting its goals.

McElmo Creek Unit M&E 1995 Report
Page 6
