During the summer and fall, periods of low or zero flows <br />are common throughout the basin in Oklahoma. The fish habitat is affected <br />by the intermittent and highly fluctuating flows. <br /> <br />02-Al, Bl, G5 1975-1985, 1985-2000 <br /> <br />During the low flows _()~ th_e.<:~lIlarron. a.l'd Salt Fork of the Arkansas <br />River the natural chlorides pollute the water and makes .-- <br />the water unusable for water supply and irrigation. The high concen- <br />trations of chlorides also contaminates the fish habitat. <br /> <br />31-Al, Bl 1975-1985, 1985-2000 <br /> <br />Ground water is poor to unusable because of the saline recharge <br />from the stresmwater. <br /> <br />RELATED LAND ISSUES <br /> <br />40-Al, Bl 1975-1985, 1985-2000 <br /> <br />High risk of floods in the communities of Waynoka, Dacoma, Aline, <br />Dover, Kingfisher, Guthrie, Coyle, Stillwater, Drumright, Crescent, <br />Enid, Okeene, Burlington, Cherokee, Jet, Driftwood, Medord, Jefferson, <br />Nash, Wakita, Blackwell, Tonkawa, Ponca City, Newkirk. There is also <br />the risk of floods in the non-urban areas around the above communities. <br /> <br />INSTITUTIONAL <br /> <br />50-Fl, F2 1975-1985, 1985-2000 <br /> <br />Additional water-oriented recreational facilities are needed to <br />serve the growing population of this area at both the State and Federal <br />leve 1. <br /> <br />50-El 1975-1985, 1985-2000 <br /> <br />There is need for Federal, State and local governments to work to- <br />gether to determine the best use and to protect the navigation project. <br /> <br />FINANCIAL <br /> <br />Small towas and communities are having problems with planning for <br />growth and financing for adequate water supplies and distribution systems. <br />They also have problems with financing the cost sharing needed for bank <br />stabilization with the Federal government. <br /> <br />315 <br />
