<br />State line has been aptly described as a "stream-aquifer system" (5). Jen- <br />kins and Taylor have devised a unique and interesting scheme to be used as <br />a basis for evaluating plans for conjunctive use of ground and surface <br />water. (5). <br />Stream depletion factors derived by Jenkins and Taylor (5) are plotted <br />on Plate I as indications of the relative short term effects of pumping from <br />the Shelton wells which are described in the Applications for Underground <br />Water Right. <br />It appears that this may become an important administrative tooL How- <br />ever. in a completely COIUlected stream-aquifer' system such as this. any <br />increase in consumptfve use caused by eitherphreatophyte spread or by pump- <br />ing ,will have an ultimate effect on the River supply at some place and pomt <br />in time. <br /> <br />-14- <br />
