The potential wilderness study areas within the Special Project Area
boundaries are now being incorporated in the statewide wilderness
inventory effort and should be reviewed along with all other inventory
units.

Inventory Units Less Than 5,000 Acres

A number of the inventory units recommended for intensive wilderness
inventory are less than 5,000 acres. When this situation exists, it is
because the unit is contiguous to Federal lands administered by either
the National Park Service, USDI or Forest Service, USDA, which have
either been designated by Congress as a "Wilderness Area" or have been
endorsed by the Administration as a potential addition to the National
Wilderness Preservation System. The sma11er BLM administered units are
being evaluated as possible additions to the existing or proposed wilder-
ness areas administered by these other Federal agencies.

BLM Inventory Units In C010rado Which Are Contiguous to BLM Inventory Units
In Utah

In some cases units of land administered by BLM cross State lines. When
this situation exists (as in Colorado and Utah) the presence of a conti-
guous inventory unit recommended for intensive wilderness inventory in
Utah was indicated by an arrow.

- 2 -
