001813

AGENDA
Colorado River Forecasting Service (CRFS) Technical Committee Meeting
Thursday, Apri I 8, 1999

National Weather Service Building
2242 West North Temple
Salt Lake City, Utah

9:00 Welcome and Introductions

9:05 Evaluation of the 1999, April I water supply runoff forecasts for the major Upper
Colorado River Projects and the very dry water supply conditions in the Lower
Colorado River Basin. Cara McCarthy (CBRFC), Brenda Alcorn (CBRFC), &
Tom Perkins (NRCS)

10:00 Current evaluation of the Colorado Basin runoff resulting from the 1998-99
La Nifia signals. An update from the October 22, 1998, presentation. Brent Taylor
(CBRFC)

10:30 Salt River Project (SRP) operations decisions based on the 1998-99 La Nifia
episode (long range); and the 1999 water supply forecasts (short range).
Dallas Reigle (SRP)

11:00 CRFS Agency Updates. I would like to propose a little different fonnat than the one that we usually
follow. For agencies with operational mandates, I am requesting a report on the project operations
that were taken in anticipation of this year's expected hydrologic conditions (if any) and
modifications of those operations in light of the current conditions and the water supply forecasts.
This would be a good time to bring up product needs that can be addressed by the committee. For
data collection agencies, a report on any station conditions that may affect project operations or
water supply forecasting within the Colorado Basin and any plans for revising or augmenting data
collection systems based on this year's expected runoff. For agencies with forecasting mandates, a
report on any forecasting problems encountered and any forecast model improvements made prior
or during water year 1999, and any anticipated needs in the future. Please furnish a paper or
electronic (preferable) copy of your agency presentation for inclusion into the meeting minutes.
The order of the updates will be as follows:

Corps of Engineers
Upper Colorado Bureau of Reclamation
Lower Colorado Bureau of Reclamation
Western Area Power Administration
Geological Survey
Natural Resources Conservation Service
National Weather Service, CBRFC

11:45 Miscellaneous business or future projects.

11:55 October meeting date.

12:00 Adjourn
