The Treasure Pass Ditch intercepts the runoff of tributaries of Wolf <br /> <br />Creek near Wolf Creek Pass at an elevation of 10,900 feet and conveys the water <br /> <br />to a tributary of the South Fork of the Rio Grande River. <br /> <br />The estimated stream depletion of the Upper San Juan Division is given in <br /> <br />Table VI, <br /> <br />TABLE VI <br /> <br />Average annual stream depletion by irrigation.... 7,400 Acre Feet <br />Average annual stream depletion by exportation. .. 100 II II <br />Average annual stream depletion by reservoir <br />evaporation..... .................,....,..". <br />Average annual stream depletion by municipal use. <br /> <br />200 <br />100 <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />II <br />II <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />Total <br /> <br />7,800 Acre Feet <br /> <br />Potential Water Use <br /> <br />A reconnaissance study of potential expanded use of water for irrigation <br /> <br />purposes indicates that cost considerations will likely limit new irrigation <br /> <br />to direct flow water use similar to the development of past years. <br /> <br />An engineering survey has been run for a canal heading on the West Fork <br /> <br />of the San Juan River at elevation of 7,650 feet and terminating at Fourmile <br /> <br />Creek. The survey shows a canal nineteen miles in length will deliver West <br /> <br />Fork water to Fourmile Creek. The water would be used for expanded irrigation <br /> <br />on lands under the Fourmile Creek canals and to replace Fourmile Creek water <br /> <br />for use on higher areas and on lands located west of Fourmile Creek in the <br /> <br />drainage basin of Stollsteimer Creek. Arable lands potentially serviceable <br /> <br />by the canal exceeds the basic summer direct flow of the West Fork. <br /> <br />Records of flow of the West Fork show a canal of capacity of about 70 <br /> <br />cfs could be justified and would provide water for 3,000 acres of land, This <br /> <br />-11- <br /> <br />h_ <br />
