USERS GUIDE

This report is organized such that the reader can first turn to a description
of each federal agency's programs followed by a summary of water and related land
resource programs within the Missouri River Basin.

The next series of tables presents the water and related land resources planning
activities and funding of the Missouri River Basin Commission. the Old West
Regional Commission and the National Commission on Water Quality,

The summaries of the planning and construction funding for state and local
programs. federal agency ongoing programs and federal agency new start or resumption
programs are included next to provide the reader with a general understanding of the
funding for water and related land resources by state and federal agency within the
Missouri region,

The reader will find: 1) a summary of the funding for state and local planning
and construction. followed by specific state and local program activities and their
funding; 2) a summary of the funding for federal agency ongoing planning and
construction programs. followed by specific federal agency ongoing programs and
their funding; and 3) a summary of the funding for federal agency new start or
resumption programs. followed by the specific federal agency new start or resumption
programs and their funding.

The summary tables are only included to provide a generalized summation of the
funding levels and do not necessarily represent the true total of the funding for
each specific program listed in the report. For certain programs the reported funding
was not separable by fiscal year or it was included with other activities or included
under another state's or federal agency's programs.

To obtain a true portrait of the program funding which was reported by the state
and federal agencies and included in this report. one must study the tables which
list the individual programs by state and federal agency.

Footnotes are listed at the end of each table. not at the bottom of the page
where the footnote appears.

The uniform study designation for the program activities listed in this report
are as follows:

A = Framework Studies: General appraisal of overall water and related land
resources development needs.

B = Regional or River Basin Plans: Identification of alternatives; use and
impact studies; economic and environmental evaluations,
