00006:1

Browns Park Refuge will benefit many
people. Sportsmen and nature visitors BENEFITS
will enjoy wildlife and its habitat. Refuge
neighbors will graze their cattle. ~loffat
County receives an annual payment. based on the current value of
purchased refuge land. for schools and roads. Retail and !;cr\'ice
business in adjacent communities will benefit from purchases made
by refuge visitors and from expenditures for refuge operation.... and
development.

What are the annual potential tangible benefits in dollars?

$24.000
$34,000
$10.000
$30.000

Value of grazing to refuge neighbors
Value from hunters
Value from fishermen
Value from nature visitors

But the real benefit of Browns Park Refuge cannot be measured
in dollars. I t is true a dollar value can be placed on the benefit a
hunter, fisherman. or other nature visitor receives from a vi~it. But
can you measure in monetary terms the real value of a hunting or
fishing trip to this remote, scenic mountain valley'? Can you put a
price tag on a relaxing visit to thi~ quality environment where one
can "get away from it aU'''!

The value of BrO\'I.'ns Park Refuge is not just a local thing,
Ducks, geese, and other migratory birds using the refuge for nesting
and resting are "hunted" with gun and fieldglass by people in many
other localities from Canada to ~lexico, Even people who may never
have the pridlege of visiting the park or enjoying elscwhen..'. the
birds it benefits, gain a satisfaction merely knowing that such area~
of wild America still exist. Conservation of wildlife and the habitat
it needs is a national concern.

In the years to come the tangible and int..'1ngible value of Browns
Park Refuge will increase many fold. The demands of an increasing
population will surely alter the American landscape. Tomorrow, few
and far between will be remote places like Browns Park Refuge
where one can retreat from the tensions of everyday life to hunt,
fish, and view wildlife in a natural environment. At ~uch places will
ducks, geese, and many other forms of wildlife be preserved for fu-
ture generations to enjoy.

=

~

~-

-u, ~
-~ n
--1Y"

.-
.;-'- -
;~ f~~' ::t;"lN!m
I, /i 'lit
A \ '~
i} \.,~ I ,.~~.- I
,.

r'/LJl1!I

~-I.:'_'

'''''--'-
