..

.

.

.

day represents a composite figure including all types of usage. Similar

studies were made for 1976 and 1977 and it was calculated that non-

irrigation month consumption was 192 and 198 gal Ions per tap per day,

respectively. The average of these three values was adopted as average

base use per tap for this study, i.e. 199 gallons per tap per day.

.

.

Irrigation usage varies greatly by months. Utilizing the 1976,

1977 and 1978 use data and assuming the base use calculated for each

year and an average irrigation season of mid-May through Mid-October,

calculations of irrigation diversions were made by subtracting base

use from total use. Hiwan Golf Course consumption was subtracted

from total irrigation quantities. Estimates of acres under irrigation,

excluding the Golf Course, for each year, were calculated assuming

an irrigation efficiency of 70% and applying computed consumptive

use in feet to the estimated irrigation diversion.

.

.

.

.

I

Estimates of consumptive use of irrigation water were made, treating

the Evergreen irrigation as a high altitude area. The crop coefficients

for May through October were taken as the average of coefficients

calculated from lysimeter measurements for South Park Mountain Meadows.

Util izing these coefficients, and temperature and precipitation dati:

it was calculated that approximately 60.6, 41.0, and 66.9 acres were

uoder irrigation for 1976, 1977 and 1978 respectively, excluding the

Golf Course. The maximum irrigated area per tap occurred in 1978

when 1,220 square feet was calculated.

I

I

I

I

In making estimates of irrigation demands for future use on the

system, a higher figure by 100 square feet was adopted to provide

for larger lots and it was assumed that 1,320 square feet per tap

,"ould be irrigated and that the irrigation efficiency would be 70%.

Demand projections per 1,000 taps for the critical drought years,

1954, 1963 aod 1978 are shown in Table 4. Demands for any desired

number of taps may be obtained by multiplying the figures shown by

the number of 1,000 taps desired, then adding in the Hiwan Golf

irrigation demand.

I

I

I

I

-10-

I
