records that there are at times large differences between total raw

water received and total water accounted for. The ratio of water

accounted for to raw water received averaged 81% for the three year

period, and ranged from 40% to over 100% during monthly periods.

,
,
I
I
j

After discussions with personnel of Public Service Company and
a visit to the treatment plant, it is believed that the primary reason
for the large differences is due to inaccuracies at times in the plant
water metering instruments. It is I ikely that some water is lost
between plant and customer, but we believe that the 81% efficiency
figure i6 inaccurate because of the wide variation observed in the
monthly data. Accordingly, an allowance of 15% for unaccounted-for
losses corresponding to an efficiency of 85% was adopted for use in
this study. This amount or less was observed in 15 of the 36 months
studied.

"

l
:1
,

:'1
,

A summary of water delivered by the Evergreen System duriog 1978

is shown in Table 3. These figures include only water accounted for

during the year and, therefore, do not include all losses attributed

to apparent differences between raw water received and water delivered

to. the customer. The Hlwan Golf Course irrigation water is included.

Where appropriate, sales data was adjusted to more accurately represeot

the time of consumption.

,I
1

:1

Largest maximum monthly usage during 1978 occurred in August

wheo approximately 36.7 million gallons was consumed at an average

rate of 1.84 cfs. The highest daily plant production was on July

26, when the system delivered 1.758 mill ion gallons at an average

rate of 2.72 cfs. Average rate of consumption for non-irrigation

months, January through April and November through December, was

0.766 cfs for the 2,390 equivalent taps within the system. This

represents a use of 207 gallons per day per tap or 59 gallons per

capita per day (gped) assuming 3.5 persons per tap which converts

to 0.321 cfs per l,OOO taps.
