<br />114~ <br /> <br />CHAPTER I - INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />Addendum No.2 presents the current plan for the Narrows Unit. <br />Comparison tables are provided at the end of the report for the <br />current plan, the Addendum to the DPR dated 1976, the Definite Plan <br />Report of 1973, and the authorized plan of 1970. <br /> <br />The unit was authorized for construction and operation under Public <br />Law 91-389 on August 28, 1970. <br /> <br />The Narrows Unit is located in northeastern Colorado along the South <br /> <br /> <br />Platte River. The unit will serve lands in Adams, Weld, Morgan, <br /> <br /> <br />Logan, Washington, and Sedgwick Counties. <br /> <br />The current plan for the Narrows Unit, as shown on figure I, will <br />provide a supplemental water supply for irrigation, municipal and <br />industrial water supplies, flood control, recreation and fish and <br />wi ldl ife development. Features to be constructed for these purposes <br />include Narrows Dam and Reservoir, a warm-water fish hatchery and a <br />cold-water rearing unit, public use recreation facilities, and railroad <br />and highway relocations. The 8ureau of Reclamation's current mitigation <br />plan for the Narrows Unit will provide approximately 21,035 acres of <br />land and mitigate 70 percent of the wildlife habitat units lost due to <br />construction of the unit. <br />
