WATER <br />Cu,,:;ERVA nON BOARD <br /> <br />For Immediate Release <br /> <br />DENVER, COLORADO, November 13, 1974 -- In a November 6 report to <br /> <br />federal, state and Rio Blanco County officials, personnel of the Rio Blanco <br /> <br />Oil Shale Project of Gulf Oil Corporation and Standard Oil Company (Indiana) <br /> <br />said that air quality, meteorology, terrestria1and aquatic biology environmental <br /> <br />studies are underway on oil shale tract C-a, core hole drilling is completed <br /> <br />and projections for C-a water, power, pipeline and other needs are expected <br /> <br />to be completed in 6 months for use by various agencies engaged in planning <br /> <br />multi-use corridors for shale oil development. <br /> <br />The report was an update of Rio Blanco Oil Shale Project activities <br /> <br />in connection with work directed toward completion of the detailed development <br /> <br />plan for Federal Prototype Lease Tract C-a in Rio Blanco County, Colorado. The <br /> <br />report waS given to officials responsible for various activities which may be <br /> <br />affected by shale oil development and reflected information submitted in a <br /> <br />quarterly report required by the Area Oil Shale Supervisor of the U. S. Geological <br /> <br />Survey. <br /> <br />,Walter T. Herget, President of Rio Blanco, said that current plans <br /> <br />are to complete the detailed development plan in a little over a year. The <br /> <br />Department of Interior leaae for Tract C-a requires submittal of the plan <br /> <br />before the 3rd anniversary of the lease, which would be March of 1977. <br /> <br />0227 <br />
