RUNOFF CHARAC'ffiRISTICS <br /> <br />A gaging station just below the Paon1a Lam kncnm as "Muddy Creek at Bardine, <br />Colorado" (O.A. ~ 246 sq. mi.) had been in operation from October 1949 <br />through December 1955. StreamflO11 of Muddy Creek at Paonia dam site for <br />other years prior to construction of the dam _s estill8ted from correlation <br />v1th the dcnmstream gaging station "North Fork Gunnison River near S~rset, <br />Colorado" located on North Fork Gunnison River 5 miles downstream from <br />Paon1a Lam (shawn on chart 2). Muddy Creek at Paonia dam site has a ~an <br />annual runoff of 105,800 acre-feet, based on records and estillBtes of 1934- <br />1960 period. This represents an average of 8.0 inches and is about 29 per- <br />cent of the average annual precipitation. During the period April through <br />July the runoff is pr1nBrlly from snCtWltlelt, and averages about 92,200 acre- <br />feet or about 87.1 percent of the normal annual runoff.
