The report summarizes and concludes our feasibility
studies of the Upper Gunnison Project with the recommendation that
no further Federal action be undertaken on the project at this time.

Analyses were made of five independent plans for units of the Upper
Gum:1ison Project including two alternative plans for the Ohio Creek
Unit and plans for the East River, Tomichi Creek, and Cochetopa
Creek Units. Only the East River Unit and a single-purpose Ohio
Creek Unit for municipal and industrial water were found to be justi-
fied. Because of their small size, however, these units were not
considered appropriate for Federal development under existing con-
ditions.

We would appreciate your distributing copies of the report to inter-
ested State agencies and consolidating any comments that they may
have. In order to expedite the review, we are sending copies of
the report directly to the Directors of the Colorado Water Conser-
vation Board and the Colorado Division of Wildlife, but are requesting
.that they submit their comments to you for consideration along with
other views. We would appreciate receiving comments on the report
by December 15, 1973.

Sincerely yours,

D., L Crandall

Regional Director

Enclosure No. 1777

cc:

vD1rector, Colorado Water Conservation Board,. 102 Columbine Bldg.,
1845 Sherman St., Denver, Colorado 80203 (w/lO copies of report)
Enclosure No. 1778
Director, Colorado Division of Wildlife, 6060 Broadway, Denver,
Colorado 80216 w/2 copies of report) - Enclosure No. 1779

i
I
I

.....---..
