The
diversion point would be further upstream, as shown on the following map.
The Yellow Jacket and Oak Ridge Conduits would be pressurized by gravity
for year-round use by the coal industry and for sprinkler irrigation
during the summer. More land would be irrigated with less water in the
Little Beaver area because of the use of sprinklers. The coal industry
water supply would be provided at a turnout along the Yellow Jacket Con-
duit and in the Milk Creek Segment from Thornburgh Reservoir or at any
point downstream as needed.

"

Recreational facilities would be provided at project reservoirs.
Prescribed minimum fishery bypasses would be made to the North Fork of
the White River at the project diversion point, and access easemen"s
would be acquired along the river for fishermen. A big game management
area would be established on Oak Ridge to mitigate project-caused wild-
life losses.

Project features

Thornburgh Reservoir wOuld be constructed to the same capacity
(36,000 acre-feet) as in all of the alternatives, but, because thiE plan
would provide slightly less water to the Milk Creek Segment, the Morapos
Feeder System would not be needed. Because of the absence of oil shale

I

41
