<br />Ecosystem (SCORE) report that is used by resource managers as the undisputed source of . <br />relevant infonnation on the topic. <br /> <br />The GCMRC vision is one of excellence in science. The vision will be achieved <br />when our science is aligned with the needs of our stakeholders, especially agency <br />managers who come to us as the acknowledged experts on the Colorado River <br />Ecosystem, <br /> <br />Mission and Role <br /> <br />Our mission has remained virtually unchanged since the first Strategic Plan was <br />written for GCMRC cooperatively with our stakeholders. <br /> <br />To provide credible. objective scientific information to the Glen Canyon Dam <br />Adaptive Management Program on the effects of operating Glen Canyon Dam on <br />the downstream resources of the Colorado River ecosystem, utilizing an <br />ecosystem science approach. <br /> <br />GCMRC's key roles and responsibilities are comprehensive, but remain focused <br />on critical issues of our stakeholders. GCMRC will: <br /> <br />I. Advocate quality, objective science and the use of that science in the adaptive <br />management decision process. <br /> <br />2, Provide scientific infonnation for priority resources of concern identified in <br />the "Operation of Glen Canyon Dam Final Environmental Impact <br />Statement." <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />3, Support the Secretary' designee and the Adaptive Management Work Group <br />in a technical advisory role. <br /> <br />4. Develop research designs and proposals for implementing, by GCMRC and/or <br />its contractors, monitoring, research and development activities in support of <br />infonnation needs identified by the Adaptive Management Work-9roup. <br /> <br />5. Coordinate ongoing reviews of the monitoring and research program with <br />independent review panels. <br /> <br />6. Coordinate, prepare and distribute technical reports and documentation for <br />review as final products. <br /> <br />7, Prepare and forward technical management recommendations and annual <br />reports, as specified in Section 1804 of the Grand Canyon Protection Act to <br />the Technical Work Group, <br /> <br />USGS SBSC GCMRC Strategic Science Plan - FY 2005-2009 <br />Draft, October 22, 2004 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />8 <br />
