Mr. Leon Bernstein,' 1 D~put);' Administrator, Division of Colorado
River Resources, Las Vegas, ~eYada~ I just have a couple of comments.
One is that the Southern Nevad~ Water Project has gone into construction
by the Bureau of Reclamation, Mr. Lopez, and everything is runing
fine and expect it to be completed on time in 1981. The Las Vegas
Valley Wash Salinity Project, there are some problems, but plans are
being made to go ahead at the present time with that construction, it
probably will be carried out. N0vada of course is involved with EDF
suit versus the Commissioner and the Secretary. Some of you may be
aware that the Senate has tacked on approved and passed an amendment
to the House Appropriation Bill which would exempt ongoing projects
in the Colorado River, such as the Southern Nevada Water Project, the
CAP Project, and I think there is one other from .the provisions of
the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 which might put Ralph
Hunsaker out of a job, if it goes through the House and is signed by

Mr. Gordon, I am delighted to have an opportunity to hear your
deliberations in your meeting and I hope from time to time that I c~n
continue to come to some of your meetings and hope that many of you
will come up and visit some of ours. We're having our next regional
meeting in Jackson, Wyoming on the 30th and 31st of the month and
vou're certainly always welcome to attend our conferences, and we will
try and keep you informed by mail of things that are going on, so I
do appreciate the opportunity of being here.

12. Selection of PSIAC Chairman for Fiscal Year 1979

Colonel Vandenberg. The next item on the agenda is the selection
of a Chairman for Fiscal Year 1979 and our able Executive Subcommittee
has handled that project by persuading Gene Neblett, Department of
Energy, to accept that assignment and unless someone wishes to contest
for the job, We will assume that by unaminous consent Gene is it.
