There are several <br />individual Federal agenoies, notably the Weather Bureau, Geologioal <br />Survey, and. Soil Conservation.Servioe, that, under present law and <br />administrative policy, have speoialresponsibilities in the oollsotion <br />and dissemination .of water resouroes data on a nation wide bas,is. <br />These agenoies ooopsrate with other Federal agsnoies, state agenoies <br />and other looalinterests in various phases of the hydrologio data <br />oollection program. <br /> <br />The programs and conclusions in this section of the AWR <br />report are bassd on expressions of basis hydrologio data needs for <br />the Department of, Interior, Dspartment of Army, Dspartment of <br />Agrioulture, Department of Commeroe, Department of Health, Eduoation <br />and Welfare, Federal Powsr Commission, and from each of the eight AWR <br />basin States. Plans for each of the several programs for colleotion <br />of additional data were prepared and ooordinated by agenciss as <br />follows: the plan for climatological data was prepared by the <br />Department ofCommeroe; that for stream flow, ground watsr, ohemical <br />quality, and suspended .sediment data by the Dspartment of Interior; <br />and that for reservoir and valley and channel sedimentation surveys <br />and snow surveys by the Department of Agriculture. Ths Department of <br />Interior, serving as ohairman agency for this ssction, ooordinated and <br />compiled the section as a whole and ths Water Resouroes Work Group <br />agreed on thegsnsral contents of the section's text. The member <br />agencies have reviswed the ssction as oompiled and report that ths <br />programs presented will serve as a guide formseting their needs. <br /> <br />v <br />
