<br />,,~\ <br />,;,-,y .J <br />..-"'t, <br />~ . )' <br /> <br />""." <br />.....' <br />1;,." <br /> <br />COLORADO RIVER WATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM <br />PARADOX VALLEY UNIT, COLORADO <br />August 1974 <br /> <br />LOCATION <br /> <br />Paradox Valley is located in Montrose County of Southwestern Colorado <br />in the Upper Colorado River Basin. <br /> <br />AUTHORIZATION <br /> <br />Project feasibility investigations were initiated on .the. basis. of several <br />legislative acts; the Colorado River Project and Participating Projects <br />(Public Law 84-485); the Navajo Indian Irrigation Project and San Juan <br />Chama Project Act (Public Law 87-483); and the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project <br />Act (Public Law 87-590). Public Law 93-320 authorizes under Title II the <br />implementation of the Paradox Valley Unit as a salinity control measure <br />in the Colorado River Basin~ <br /> <br />ADMINISTRATION <br /> <br />The Colorado River Water Quality Improvement Program is administered and <br />coordinated by the Bureau of Reclamation's Engineering and Research Center <br />in Denver, Colorado. The responsibility for investigations on Paradox <br />Valley Unit lies with the Bureau's Western Colorado Project Office in. <br />Durango, Colorado. It is anticipated that the operation and maintenance <br />of the completed salinity control project will also be conducted by the <br />Western Colorado Projects Office. <br /> <br />OC10582 <br />
