This Environmental Impact Statement documents the review to
determine the wilderness suitability or unsuitability of the
Oh-Be-Joyful Study Area called for in Section 106(a) of
the Colorado Wilderness Act (PL 96-560). Five alternatives
are described - (1) entire area suitable for wilderness,
(2) entire area unsuitable for wilderness, (3) suitable
for wilderness with mineral withdrawal date extended until
December 31, 1993, (4) No Action: continue direction from
East River Land Management Plan as temporarily modified
by the Colorado Wilderness Act, and (5) suitable for
wilderness with modified eastern boundary to exclude current
exploration target area. The statement d15cusses the
estimated effects of implementing each of the alternatives.
