<br /> <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Central Arizona Water Conservation District <br />23636 NORTH 7TH STREET <br />PHOENIX, ARIZONA 85024-3899 <br />(602) 870-2333 <br /> <br />FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br />April 11, 1994 <br /> <br />Contact: Jim McIntyre <br />Public Information Representative <br />(602) 870-2333 <br /> <br />Property Tu Rate of 10 Cents Adopted by Central Arizona Water Conservation District <br /> <br />A property tax rate of 10 cents per $100 of assessed valuation was adopted Thursday <br /> <br />to help fund operations of the Central Arizona Project (CAP) and make repayment of the <br /> <br />federal loan. <br /> <br />The 1994 tax levy approved by the Central Arizona Water Conservation District <br /> <br />(CA WCD) is imposed on real property in Maricopa, Pima and Pinal counties, all of which <br /> <br />receive Colorado River water through the Central Arizona Project (CAP). <br /> <br />The CAWCD operates the CAP, <br /> <br />The board, meeting at the Sheraton Tucson EI Conquistador, 10,000 North Oracle <br /> <br />Road, Tucson, also approved a tax rate of four cents per $100 of assessed valuation to fund <br /> <br />demonstration recharge projects using surplus CAP water. This is the fourth year for the four <br /> <br />cent recharge project tax levy, <br /> <br />Besides the property (ad valorem) tax, CA WCD activities are funded by the sale of <br /> <br />water and electricity. Colorado River water is delivered to cities, industries, agricultural <br /> <br />districts and Indian reservations in the CA WCD's three county service area. <br /> <br />--end-- <br />
