The draft EA, still under development.
may go out for public review by the end of December 1997.

Land ACQuisition Activities

Acquisition activities consisted primarily of planning. development of
procedures. addressing issues and obstacles. and community involvement.
See FY 97 annual report attached.

Old Charlie Wash

A total of 73 young razorbacks were harvested from the site during
draining in 1995/1996. A final report was developed: "Modde, T. 1997.
Fish use of Old Charley Wash; an assessment of the importance of
floodplain wetlands in razorback sucker management and recovery, U.S.
Fi sh Wil dl. Preliminary
results suggest that the elevated levels of selenium in Walter Walker
may adversely affect reproductive success (i.e.. larval development and
survival) of razorback suckers. The study was repeated during FY 97 to
confirm FY 96 results. Data are currently being analyzed, and a report
is expected in spring 1998.
