III. Project Summary:

The project consists of constructing a fish passage facility at the Grand Valley
Project Diversion Dam located on the Colorado River upstream of the confluence
with Plateau Creek. The original plan called for initiating preconstruction activities in
FY 1997. However, because of the limited success of the Redlands Fish Passage
Facility in 1996, preconstruction activities were delayed pending confirmation of fish
use of the Redlands Fish Passage Facility during the summer of 1997. Due to the
apparent success of the Redlands Fish Passage Facility as demonstrated by the
level of native fish use in August and September of 1997, preconstruction activities
are being reinitiated in FY 199B.

IV. Study Schedule:

The current plan is to complete preconstruction activities in FY 1999. Construction
of this facility is dependent on availability of capital project funds and successful
completion of the GVIC and Price-Stubb fish passage facilities.

VI. Accomplishment of FY 97 Tasks and Deliverables, Discussion of Initial Findings and
Shortcomings:

FY 1997 Tasks delayed pending confirmation of Redlands Fish Passage Facility
success.

VII. Recommendations:

Proceed as outlined above.

VIII. Project Status:

A preconstruction team is being formed to develop conceptual designs and
complete NEPA compliance.
