The 'dam is 8Jl earthfill struct.ure with a height above
streambed of 352 feet and a. creet length of 800 feet. At the
nuwimum water surrs('<e e1evatio!l of 7,520 feet the surface area
of the reservoir wHl be 9,181 acres and the capacity will be
approximately 940,800 acre-feet. The active capacity of,Blue
Mesa Reservoir will be 748,500 acre-feet. The average tall-
water elevation 1s 7,160 feet.

Construction of the dam has been completed and the
reservoir ie partly filled, The powerplant will have an in-
stalled capacity of 60,000 kilowatts generated by two units,
each with a capacity of 30,000 kilowa.tts. The first generating
unit began producing c~~rcia1 power on September 13, 1967,
and tests are being run on the second unit.

Curecanti Unit - Morrow Point Dam.--Morrow Point Dam, now
under construction, is located on the Gunnison River in the
,~ sec. 4, T. 48 N., R. 6 W., about a quarter of a mile up-
stream from C1marTon Creek. It is a concrete arch structure
with a crest length of 720 feet, top width of 12 feet and base
width of 52 feet. The max1mum height above streambed ie 400
feet. At maximum normal water eurface elevation of 7,160 feet,'
the reservoir will have a surface area of 817 acres, capacity
of 117,900 acre -feet, and will extend 12 miles upstream to the
toe of Blue Mes!!. Dam. The powerplant, which is to be located
underground, 225 feet downstream from the dam's left abutment,
will have two generating units, each with an installed capacity
of 60,000 kilowatts. Turbines will be operated at a rated head
of 3il.5 feet with maximum gross and minimum gross power heads of
405 feet and 345 'teet, respectively. Except for emergency co~-
ditions under severe drought the powerplant will be operated
near the maximum head. Normal tailwater elevation is 6,750 feet.

11
