Post Office and Court Rouse
Omaha, Nebraska 68102

Dear Hr. Burn'ett:

Thank you for your invitation to comment on public Law 91-190,
Section 102(2)(c). regarding the construction of a Bear Creek and
Lake project near Morrison, Colorado. The Nature Conservancy, as
you know is not equipped with engineering know-how for technical
comment ae a general thing.

In view of the above, I shall make a very brief statement only.
I have gone over the referred area recentlya and ne,ve evaluated in
my own mind along with your five point statement plus advice which
I have solicited from members and Board of Trustee members of The
Nature Conservancy, Colorado Chapter, on what the Organization
should contribute.

I found no sentiment whatever in favor of this ~igantic project.
Both Board and other members were skeptical and very much against
.. the propoeal. It is a most expensive project ~ money, time,
disruption of all life in the area and some tnjk that sufficient
results of protection could be obtained in other W'lYS. I shall not
go into the alternatives,

Vert truly yours,

7J'.~~~

William T. Garrett, Chairman
The Nature Conservancy
Colorado Chapter
