Name of Action: (X) Administrative <br /> <br />( ) Legislative <br /> <br />2. Description of Action: Construction of a lake on Bear Creek for the <br />purposes of flood control, general recreation and fish and wildlife enhancement. <br /> <br />3. a. Environmental Impacts: The project would provide protection <br />against 98.7 percent of the damages resulting from Bear Creek flooding, <br />additional water-oriented recreation opportunities for the Denver metropolitan <br />area, and the establishment of a managed, warm-water fishery. <br /> <br />b. Adverse Environmental Impacts: Many private' residences, small <br />businesses and farmsteads would require relocation. Economy from present <br />mining operations would cease. Some loss of vegetation would occur. <br />Loss of 1 1/2 miles of mountain stream. <br /> <br />4. Alternatives: Solutions considered included floodplain evacuation, <br />floodproofing, floodplain zoning, channelization and several other dam <br />alignments in the same general area. <br /> <br />5.
