<br />Flooded Land Ownership vs. Flooded Bottomlands <br /> <br />Of the estimated 48,485 acres lac]) (19,621 hectares [hall of <br />land owned between Pariette Draw and Split Mountain, only 6,113 <br />ac (2,474 ha) was actually flooded in May 1993 and only 11,254 ac <br />(4,559 ha) could potentially be inundated with historic floods <br />(Figure 4; Table El, Appendix E). The largest flooded bottomland <br />area, located between Pariette Draw and Escalante Ranch (rm 238- <br />310 [rk 383-499]), contained 6,093 ac (2,466 ha) (Irving and <br />Burdick, 1995). The Ouray National Wildlife Refuge (rm 249-265 <br />[rk 401-427]), composed of 2,265 ac (917 hal, made up the <br />greatest concentration of flooded bottomland sites.
