<br />development in 'the Colorado River BllSin. These projects have
<br />played an important role in the overall economic development of the
<br />area and to the Nation as a whole. .

<br />struction, a tot~1 of 112,400 acre-feet of water was delivered at the
<br />farm headgates Of nearly 1,100 farms for the irrigation of 49,000 acres
<br />OIl the five part~cipating projects that are in operatio11. Despite the
<br />timelag betweejIauthorization and completion of construction,
<br />cumulat.ive gr.os.s. cr.op values for these. five pa.rticipa. tinge projects
<br />from time of authorIzation through 1965 amounted, to .about $20
<br />million. .
<br />A total of 5,~00 acre-feet or 1,7 million gallons of water was de-
<br />liyered for mun,icipal, industrial, and other nonirrigation purposes
<br />serving a population of nearly 16,000 people during 19~5. A cumu-
<br />lativstotal of 11,300 acre-feet or 3.7 million gallons ofproject water
<br />has !.>een delivered for these purposes during the lO-year period.
<br />'rhis is only. the beginning. Construction is continuing and future
<br />years will prqdu\Je increased economic opportunities and growth of the
<br />area as wen as of the Nation.
