Where limestone aquifers occur, excessive hardness can be a problem.
Locally, fluoride, nitrates, and iron exceed recommended levels. Future use
of ground water in the Rio Grande Region may exacerbate water quality
problems where declining heads allow saline water to encroach into fresh and
slightly saline water aquifers. Table 7 summarizes water quality information
for the Regi on.
