have been sized by the District in anticipation of an additional pipeline at some future time. In ding
so the District has recognized the possibility that more comprehensive front range water management _
needs could be served in the future by additional conveyance capacity from Northern Colorado to ,.,
the metro Denver area. However, the District has not studied such future potential, and its current
policies do not contemplate the use of water from CBT, Windy Gap or Northern "base supply" south
of Boulder and Weld Counties.

The MWSI Project should consider a wide range of options which may involve the use of
Northern Colorado water supplies and project facilities in meeting Front Range water management
issues while keeping in mind the legitimate interests of Northern Colorado. In doing so, the MWSI
Project should solicit the active involvement of Northern Colorado representatives.

4. AURORA/ARAPAHOE COUNfY WATER AUTHORITY STIJDIES

The City of Aurora and a number of southern Metro area groundwater users organized under
the Arapahoe County Water Authority have undertaken investigations of the potential for coordinated
and conjunctive development and use of nontributary Denver Basin groundwater, including the
potential for artificial recharge of those nontributary aquifers.

The MWSI Project should be coordinated with these investigations in order to take advantage
of the location- and facilities-specific information being generated by these studies and to provide the
analytical capability needed to explore the system-wide yield potential of a larger scale conjunctive
use program.

e

C-3

-
