<br />I~ <br />I <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />~ <br />1 <br />',' <br /> <br />: ~' . <br /> <br /> <br />.. <br />r,,~ <br />, " <br /> <br />h <br />. ,- <br /> <br />-.:'" <br /> <br />~' <br /> <br />HOIIJe. ~CO~ <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />3402 <br /> <br />PUBLIC NOTICE <br /> <br />PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on October 29, <br />1982, the Cities of Colorado Springs and Aurora filed with <br />the Eagle County Permit Authority an application for a permit <br /> <br />to conduct the following activities of State interest: <br /> <br />Major extension of an existing domestic water <br /> <br />treatment system; and <br /> <br />efficient utilization of municipal and <br /> <br />industrial water projects, <br /> <br />in accordance with Chapters 4 and 5, respectively, of the <br />Guidelines and Regulations for Areas and Activities of State <br />. <br /> <br />Interest of the County of Eagle, State of Colorado, 1980, as <br /> <br />amended. <br /> <br />The proposed activities of State interest referred <br />to hereinabove are for the purpose of developing and <br />constructing Phase II of the Homestake Water Project. The <br />Homestake Water Project currently diverts water from <br />Homestake Creek and tributaries in the Homestake Valley. The <br />Phase II development proposal would divert waters from the <br />headwaters of Cross Creek and its tributaries and Fall Creek <br /> <br />in the Holy Cross Wilderness Area of the \~ite River National <br /> <br /> <br />Forest. The proposal is for 57,000 feet of tunnels, 3,000 <br /> <br />feet of pipeline and four diversion structures. The <br /> <br />. diversion of water from the Cross Creek and Fall Creek <br /> <br />"drainages is estimated to amount to approximately 21,000 acre <br /> <br />. <br />feet per year (af/yr), according to the U.S. Forest Service.,. <br />This water is to be delivered into the existing Homestake <br /> <br />system for subsequent delivery to the Cities of Colorado <br /> <br />Springa and Aurora for municipal use. <br /> <br />) "" <br />.
