objective to which it was addressed, the conveyance losses for eacn

alternative examined in the study were assumed to be the same. While this

assumption was sUfficiently accurate for the purposes of this study, one

cannot extrapolate this assumption to the particulars of a given project.

Second, the study's evaluations can be used only to make relative

comparisons among water resources development alternatives. The study does

not provide information which can be used, without further study, to judge

the ultimate feasibility of any particular alternative or specific project.

Finally, it must be remembered that this study examined water resources

development alternatives only from the point of view of increasing the

beneficial use of the waters of the South Platte River to which Colorado is

entitled. Although some of the alternatives analyzed could also serve the

purpose of improving the management of already developed supplies, or

re-regulating water imported to the South Platte River basin, those aspects

of potential projects have been necessarily eliminated in this study.

Thus, one cannot apply the results of this study to a project if it WOuld

serve purposes substantially different from those to which this study is

addressed.

-6-

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
