Quality of I<ater _ This refers to 1 he ,.hemical or hiological <br />conditions of the I<ater. A slightly 1,""'1' rating "as given to the <br />North Fork and South Fork because of inrr<'ased logging operation <br />in the drainages. <br /> <br />2. Pool _ Riffle Ratio _ This is a value judger.1ent on I<hether the <br />stream has a 50-50 ratio of pool and riHI~ area. The Hiddle <br />Fork carried a slightly higher rating on the strength of more <br />equal balance in the ratio. The other two streams have several <br />areas of rough water with less resting amI feed pools. <br /> <br />3. Temperature - liater temperature oV('T:ll I is fairly high. All <br />three streams enjoy fairly cool temperatures with parks and openings <br />which slightly warm the water. <br /> <br />4. Clarity of water - All three streams ,.ate fairly high. High <br />mountain streams usually rate high. <br /> <br />5. Fish Food Supply - These three streams carry above average <br />food supply. Both stream bank vegetation, insects, and larval <br />under rocks and along the muddy bank are present. <br /> <br />6. Condition of Fisn _ Condition of fi sh is good. They are fat <br />and healthy. <br /> <br />7. Legal Access _ Legal access is excellent and rated high. The <br />North Fork would rate slightly lower ,lue to the private land in <br />Diamond Park. <br /> <br />8. Aesthetic Value of Rivers <br /> <br />a. Meanders _ All three rivers would rate above average. Por- <br />tions of all three rivers have meonders. <br /> <br />b. Pools and riffles - All three rivers have portions with <br />excellent pool-ri ffle ratio, however, some portions of the <br />ri,vers are lacking in sufficient feeding and resting pools. <br /> <br />c. Rapids and Waterfalls _ Several small waterfalls are found <br />on the North Fork and South Fork m:1 iJlly in and just outside <br />the I<ilderness area. Scattered r:l\,ids and waterfalls would <br />rate fairly high on all three forks of the river. <br /> <br />d.
