These values were: 1. Quality of I<ater _ This refers to 1 he ,.hemical or hiological conditions of the I<ater. A slightly 1,""'1' rating "as given to the North Fork and South Fork because of inrr<'ased logging operation in the drainages. 2. Pool _ Riffle Ratio _ This is a value judger.1ent on I<hether the stream has a 50-50 ratio of pool and riHI~ area. The Hiddle Fork carried a slightly higher rating on the strength of more equal balance in the ratio. The other two streams have several areas of rough water with less resting amI feed pools. 3. Temperature - liater temperature oV('T:ll I is fairly high. All three streams enjoy fairly cool temperatures with parks and openings which slightly warm the water. 4. Clarity of water - All three streams ,.ate fairly high. High mountain streams usually rate high. 5. Fish Food Supply - These three streams carry above average food supply. Both stream bank vegetation, insects, and larval under rocks and along the muddy bank are present. 6. Condition of Fisn _ Condition of fi sh is good. They are fat and healthy. 7. Legal Access _ Legal access is excellent and rated high. The North Fork would rate slightly lower ,lue to the private land in Diamond Park. 8. Aesthetic Value of Rivers a. Meanders _ All three rivers would rate above average. Por- tions of all three rivers have meonders. b. Pools and riffles - All three rivers have portions with excellent pool-ri ffle ratio, however, some portions of the ri,vers are lacking in sufficient feeding and resting pools. c. Rapids and Waterfalls _ Several small waterfalls are found on the North Fork and South Fork m:1 iJlly in and just outside the I<ilderness area. Scattered r:l\,ids and waterfalls would rate fairly high on all three forks of the river. d. Haturc tree cover along a port i_(_'.!.1 of each water course - All three forks of the river have "",, lire tree COver along por- tions of the water course. This ,,11,,1,1 rate high.
