DEFINITIONS <br /> <br />A list of definitions of terms used in the operating principles, the repart, and <br />the appendices is as fallaws: <br /> <br />1. District. - The Purgatoire River Water Canservancy District. This <br />ent ity was created and exi sts under 1 aws af the State of Co. larado to cantract <br />far repayment to. the United States of an apprapriate share af the project costs <br />allacated to irrigatian use. The District shall also. be the agency responsible <br />far the regulation of irrigatian water supplies within the district boundaries. <br /> <br />2. Irrigatian Capacity. - The 20,000 acre-feet af reservair capacity alla- <br />cated to. irrigatian plus the unsedimented partian af the jaint-use capacity. <br /> <br />3. Model Right. - The original Madel reservair right to. store 20,000 <br />acre-feet af water from the flaws af the purgatai re Ri ver, under reservai r <br />priarity No.. 10 in Water District No.. 19 at a rate af flaw nat exceeding 700 <br />cubic feet per secand of time under date of appropriatian of January 22, 1908, <br />as decreed by the District Court of Las Animas County, Colarada, on January 12, <br />1925. The decree was transferred to. Trinidad Reservair and the District, <br />made part of the District, and referred to now as the "Transferred Model Starage <br />Right". <br /> <br />4. Jaint-Use Decree. - A decree (April 27, 1972, Water Division No.2, <br />District Caurt, Case No.. W-130) which allows far the storage in Trinidad <br />Reservoir in additian to. storage under the transferred Madel right, any flaod <br />flaws originating an the Purgataire River above Trinidad Dam which wauld ather- <br />wise spil,l fram John Martin Reservoir. Star age is limited to the partion of the <br />39,000 acre-feet of reservai r capac ity all acated to jo i nt use unoccupi ed by <br />sediment at any given time. <br /> <br />5. 1961 Study. - The original "Appendix A - Water Supply and Utilization, <br />April 1961." Studies were on a water year basis and assumed equal sharing with <br />all entities in the praject. All flows based on monthly analysis. <br /> <br />6. 1964 Study. - The "Append i x A Supp 1 ement - Revi sed Water Supp ly and <br />Utilizatian, April 1964." A revision of the 1961 Appendix A which modified <br />Trinidad Project aperations to. recagnize and give some advantage to thase indi- <br />viduals halding the mast seniar water rights and the Madel Land and Irrigatian <br />Campany which had pravided the starage right. Studies were placed an a calendar <br />year basis. <br /> <br />7. Histarical Model Reservair Operatian. - Histarical aperatian in the <br />area with the Madel Reservair af 6,000 acre-feet capacity at its histarical <br />lacatian. <br /> <br />8. Rehabilitated Madel Reservair Operation. - Operatian which wauld have <br />accurred if the Madel Reservai r had been rehabi 1 itated with the full 20,000 <br />acre-feet of starage capac ity ava i 1 ab 1 e at its hi star i ca 1 lacat ian and with the <br />present ditches administered an a priority basis throughout the 1925-1957 study <br />periOd of 1961 and 1964 Studies. <br /> <br />5 <br />
