The summary.offindings and conclusions presented herein
are tentative, pending completion of studies by the South Platte
River Basin Enforcement Project.

Purpose and Scope

The general objectives of the study on which this report is based were
to assess the suitability of the South Platte River for present and
proposed water uses and to determine the need forrod value of stream-
flow regulation for the purpose of water quality control. The need for
streamflow regulation in the study area was studied for present
conditions and for anticipated future conditions. The area covered
in this report covers the lower South Platte River Basin in Morgan,
Washington, Logan, and Sedgwick Counties in Colorado.

Summary of Findings

1. The Bureau of Reclamation's proposed Narrows Unit is a multi-purpose
project that could furnish irrigation, recreation, flood control and
water quality control benefits. Project development would consist of
constructing the Narrows Dam and Reservoir on the South Platte River
near Fort Morgan, Colorado.
