This memorandum constitutes a report of the Bureau of Sport Fisheries
and Wildl ife on fish and wildlife relative to the Narrows Unit of the
Missouri River Basin Project, The attached substantiating report pre-
sents the same coverage but in greater detail. Both, however, cover
the project plan, an analysis of project effects on the fish and wild-
life resources, and contain estimates of costs and resulting benefits
of certain means and measures In the interest of fish and wildlife.
In addition, this memorandum report suggests how the costs might be
cost shared.

The Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife Issued an earlier report
entitled, "A Prel iminary Evaluation Report on Fish and Wildl ife Resources
In Relation to the Water Development Plan for the Narrows.Unit, South
Platte Division, Missouri River Basin Project, Colorado," dated Decem-
ber 13, 1951. On July 17, 1959, our Bureau also issued a report to
accompany the Bureau of Reclamation status report entitled, "Report
on the South Platte River Basin, Colorado-Wyoming-Nebraska." The
Narrows Unit was discussed briefly in the latter report.

Like the earlier reports, this report was prepared under the authority
and in accordance with the provIsions of the Fish and Wildlife Coordina-
tion Act (48 Stat. 401, as amended; 16 U.S.C, 661 et seq.). It is
designed to accompany your Bureau's feasibility report. The Colorado
Department of Game, Fish and Parks has cooperated in the field studies
and preparation of this report. Their concurrence in It is indicated
by the enclosed copy of a letter dated July 29, 1966, signed by Director
Harry R. Woodward.
