<br />III.New Storal!:e Proiects <br /> <br />A. Storage above Shoshone Hydroelectric Plant. The following proposed reservoir sites will be <br />investigated to determine potential feasibility for supplying water for the endangered fishes. <br /> <br />I. Reconfigure the proposed Eagle Colorado Reservoir project. This site is located on Alkali <br />Creek a tributary to the Eagle River near Wolcott, CO. <br /> <br />lI. Reconfigure the proposed Eagle Piney project. A reservoir site is located on the Piney River <br /> <br />lll. Ranch Creek Reservoir. The Ranch Creek site is located on Ranch Creek, tributary to the <br />Fraser River, 3 miles east of Fraser <br /> <br />lll. Wolcott Reservoir. This site is located adjacent to the Eagle Colorado Reservoir site. The <br />water rights for this site are held by the Colorado River Water Conservation District. <br /> <br />B. Storage below Shoshone and not within Critical Habitat <br /> <br />1. Roan Creek Reservoir. This reservoir site is on Roan Creek above the Town of Debeque, <br /> <br />II. Mt. Logan Reservoir. This site is located near the Roan Creek Reservoir site on a tributary <br />to Roan Creek <br /> <br />IV. Owens Creek Reservoir. This site is located in the headwaters of Buzzard Creek (tributary <br />to Plateau Creek) approximately 22 miles east of Collbran. <br /> <br />v. Elk Creek Reservoir.. This site, owned by Mobil Oil is located on the main stem of Elk <br />Creek, a tributary to the Colorado River near New Castle, Colorado. <br /> <br />VI. Acquire the Colony Project's existing Middle Fork Reservoir on Parachute Creek <br /> <br />Vll. Dry Hollow Reservoir. Dry Hollow Reservoir is located on Dry Hollow Creek <br />approximately 5 miles south of Silt. <br /> <br />viii. Kendig Reservoir. The Kendig Reservoir site tS located on West Divide Creek <br />approximately 15 miles south of Silt. <br /> <br />IV. Remove Shoshone Call. This alternative contemplates selective removal of a portion of the Shoshone <br />Power Plant call. This action would reduce the requirements for upstream exchange reservoirs to <br />release water to satisfy the call. This action would preserve upstream storage at a participating <br />reservoir in the winter. The water stored against the Shoshone call would be subsequently released on <br />the peak hydro graph for benefit ofthe endangered fishes. <br /> <br />V. Expand or Otherwise Modify the RIPRAP Alternatives to Produce Additional Yield. These <br />alternatives are included in the Preliminary Draft Programmatic Biological Opinion for Recovery <br />Program Actions and Water Depletions in the Upper Colorado River from Rifle, Colorado to Lake <br />Powell (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, 1999) and/or the Recovery Implementation Program <br />Recovery Action Plan (RIPRAP). Additional yield from these alternatives would count toward the <br />20,000 acre-feet target without reducing the yields from these alternatives as detailed in the <br />Programmatic Biological Opinion. <br /> <br />VI. Other Alternatives. Reconsider, expand or otherwise modify existing alternatives (other than <br />those considered in the Preliminary Programmatic Biological Opinion and/or the RIPRAP) for <br />supplying the 20,000 acre-feet. <br /> <br />VII.Insurance Pool. Develop an "insurance pool" alternative, which would provide replacement water <br />to existing projects, which had been affected by implementation of alternatives for supplying water <br />to the endangered species. <br /> <br />VIII.AcQuire historical al!:ricultural consumDtive use credits. <br /> <br />Page 2 <br />
