<br />C'J <br />r-- <br />~ <br />r'-', <br />-- <br />':,", <br /> <br />'::'::'i <br /> <br />-----..-"." - '^~. :;,;," <br /> <br />j' <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The Irrigation Scheduling and Management Program, in the Grand <br /> <br />Valley area of Colorado, was started during the 1972 irrigation. <br /> <br />season. <br /> <br />The Grand Valley area, located in West Central Coll)rado is at the <br /> <br />confluence of theColorado and Gunnison Rivers. Thl! irrigated <br /> <br />area, of approximately 80,000 acres, is delivered water by diversions <br /> <br />from the two rivers. <br /> <br />Four irrigation entities divert water from the Colorado River. <br /> <br />These include the Grand Valley Water Users Association (government <br /> <br />project), Grand Valley Irrigation Company, Palisade Irrigation <br /> <br />District and Mesa County Irrigation District. A fifth irrigation <br /> <br />company, the Redlands Power and Water Company diverts water <br /> <br />from the Gunnison River. <br /> <br />The Irrigation Scheduling and Management Program was Unplemented to <br /> <br />assist irrigators in the Grand Valley area to improve their crops <br /> <br />and also to be beneficial to the quality of water in the Colorado <br /> <br />River Basin. <br /> <br />CURRENT STATUS <br /> <br />One hundred twenty farms are being scheduled during the 1973 <br /> <br />irrigation season. These include forty-three participants <br /> <br />carried over from the 1972 season. <br /> <br />This season crop consumptive use is also being furnished to the <br />
