These species inoludo the flannelO1outh suckel', (Catn'toml1s lati.,inis), the <br />l~h1te sucker, (!:,1tostonlUs co,"mp.rsoni), the blllehead sucket', (Panto<tp.l'S ~ilJJ.ts.), <br />the speckled dace, (Rhlnichvthvs ~<cl111ls), the bonytaj,l "hub, (~rohust'1.), the <br />Colol'ado Rive" squQ,wfish, (Ptychocheilus. 11'Cill'), the mottled sculpin, (Coctus <br />.'QAu.4i) , the brown trout, (~ trlltt~), the carp, (Cypri"", $;arp10), the fathc.ad <br />,"innol~, (PimDh€llp.s ~ili.::i.), the channel cntfish, (Tctnlllrlls pllnctn~'ls), the black <br />bullhead, (Ictalurus ~), the bluegill, (~pomi.s. mnchrllchlrll') ,:lnd the green sun- <br />fish, (LeDo01is cyanellus). <br /> <br />The flannelmouth sucker and the bony tail chub !-'ere the most abundant species, <br />nearly onn.half of the tot81 number of fish found. Only four brown trout were found <br />in the 5,1n JU,:ln and Pine Rivers. <br /> <br />The fish species found in the Navajo River wet'e the SBr:le DB those found in <br />the San Juan and Pine Rivers, rainbow trout, (~ VairnDerii), was the only additional <br />species found. Trash fish werQ the JQost dominant species, howeve,', the ra,1nbow and <br />brown tl'out ~lere more abundant than trout found in the San Ju8n /lnd Pine Rivers, <br /> <br />The t'otenone tre.1tment 1~8S very successful. This made s. total of approximately 75 miles of the San Juan River that <br />was, trea,tecl. <br /> <br />As yet, no watel' has been impounded by the Navajo Dam and the pt'osent anticipated <br />closure will be sometime during the spring of 1962. 'fhis will be approximately eight <br />months after tho l'otElnoning.
