o

(.,~)

an interest in the Frying Pan-Arkansas project. For

W
N
N
~

accounting purposes here we will consider the total

diversions thru the Busk-Ivanhoe Tunnel as well as the

Colum~ine. Ewing, and Wurtz Ditches. The 1965 combined

normalized diversion for these four ditches was 8.790

acre-~eet. The 1976-1985 average annual diversion for
these ~our ditches is 12.985 acre-feet. This represents an

expans'ion of 4.195 acre-feet. The maximum divers ion

appears to have occurred in 1984 and was 21.380 acre-feet.

Values' were supplied by the Colorado Water Conservation

Board.

h. Frvinqi Pan-Arkansas Proiect

Diversions through Boustead Tunnel began in 1971. The

average annual diversion during the 1976-1985 period was

57.6171 acre-feet, The maximum annual diversion to date

occurred in 1984 and was 107.600 acre-feet,

;
The operating principles for the project state that

diversions will not exceed 120,000 acre-feet in anyone
year and will not exceed a total aggregate of 2,352.800

acre-f.et in any consecutive 34 year period. The latter

requirement would mean a long-term average diversion rate

of 69.?00 acre-feet annually, Since the historic average

(1980-~989) is only 51,858 AF. it is conceivable that in

the coming years. annual diversions could exceed 69,200

-5-
