River' <br />Recovery Program is" a multi-agency <br />effort to recover endangered Colorado <br />River fish while also allowing for <br />development of water resources for <br /> <br />ReadeJ:s' FOrum <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />human' purposes."Program partici- <br />pants come from federal, state, local <br />and private organiz~tions and agen- <br />cies in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming, <br />A portion of the funding for this pro- <br />gram goes toward research andpublic <br />information: but the majority goes for <br />on-the-ground jJrojects, to recover <br />endangered fish and their habitat. <br />River Watch' is an educational pro- <br />,'gram of the Colorado' Division: of <br />Wildlife designed to give a hands-on <br /> <br />learning experiimce to students from <br />middle and high' schools around the <br />state, Students gather data on dissolved <br />oxygen, pH, temperature, hardness. <br />alkalinity and heavy metals jrom such <br />rivers as 'the Colorado, South Platte, <br />Eagle and Arkansas. Their data has <br />been used by the Water Quality Control <br />Commission, Environmental Protection <br />Agency, Colorado, Water Quality' <br />,Control Division and Denver"Metro <br />Wastewater Reclamation District. <br /> <br />7 <br />
