<br />Grand Valley Unit <br />Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Project <br />Laterals A20, 21, 211/2 and A25 thru A28 <br /> <br />prepared by the Bureau of Reclamation October 1993 <br /> <br />00 <br />~ <br />o <br />M <br />\.-. <br />o <br /> <br />Construction <br />News <br /> <br />Volume 1, No, 1 <br /> <br /> <br />The area in the middle of the photo indicates an "after" shot of where a portion of Lateral A33 was replaced <br />Prior to piping, the lateral was 70 feet below the roadway in some places, <br />(Photo by Sweed Harper) <br /> <br />CONSTRUCTION UPDATE <br /> <br />Since entering into a cooperative <br />agreement with the Bureau of Reclamation <br />in September 1991, and initiating <br />construction in December of the same <br />year, the Grand Valley Water Users' <br />Association's Construction Division has <br />replaced almost 12 miles of open laterals <br />with pipe, <br /> <br />This past winter and spring, crews were <br />plagued by the unusually wet weather <br />which caused ground <br /> <br />water to enter some excavated areas and <br />made working conditions difficult. <br /> <br />FISCAL YEAR 1994 WORK <br /> <br />Now that the irrigation season is coming to <br />a close, the 25.member work.force has <br />resumed construction at Lateral A26, near <br />221/2 and L Roads, It is anticipated that <br />October 1993 through September 1994 <br />work will include replacing open Laterals <br />A25, A26, A27, A28 and, time permitting, <br />Lateral A20 with pipe, <br />
