(Y:
~
C'J

"
,

, -l
I

13. Logging Camp Site
~h

I
Small Acreage Alternative

Logging Camp Dam for the small acreage "'ould be constructed on the

San Miguel River 4.3 miles downstream from the bridge near the bottom

of Norwood Hill on Highway 145. Logging Camp Reservoir would form

behind the dam for a distance of 3.2 miles, and would cover 300 acres

at maximum water surface. No relocations would be necessary, but a

two-mile access road from Wright's Mesa would be built to the dam,

aad beyond.

A pumping plant located midway along the south side of the res-

ervoir would pump project water 870 feet to Wright's Mesa, where it

would enter Basin Canal 2.5 miles east of Norwood. Basin Canal would

extend across Wright's Mesa 6 miles and terminate one mile south of

Norwood. The currently existing system of Cone and Gurley Ditches

<"

and Reservoirs would be tied in with the new facilities. Gurley Ditch

would be lined to reduce seepage losses.

The Logging Camp Small Acreage Alternative plan of development for

the San Miguel Project would provide irriga~ion water for 11,480 acres

of supplemental and 3,670 acres of full service farmland on Wright's

",'

Mesa; sprinkler irrigation would be accommodated through the installa-

tion of new buried pipe laterals. Twelve thousand acre-feet of indus-

t'rial water would be allocated for the proposed coal-fired generating

plant to be operated by the Colorado-Ute Electric Association. Another

2,000 acre-feet would be allocated for domestic use on Wright's Mesa,

bringing the annual total of municipal and industrial water to 14,000

acre-feet for the San Miguel Project.

- ?t; _

I
I

i
ij

[,
f,~}
I.
I

j
~
,~
~;~
'J
1~1
iij,'
HI
.: ~i
ii,

,

"
'f
"
It
<t
'I
,

".-..
....:..,;:
-,.j. ~-'
"-'.;~::~

I
"
,I
,
1
i
:\
i
I
I

\
