Three and one half miles of Highway 145 below the

junction of Highways 145 and 62 would be moved.

The water would flow from the reservoir into an 11.5 mile pipe-

line, which would terminate at a pumping plant on the south side of

the San Niguel Canyon below the "s" curve on top of Non-70od Hill. A

power generating plant (three megawatt potential) would be constructed

below the site of the pumping plant. Power would be generated by the

release of.water from the pipeline at river level

this would occur

whenever there was an excess capacity in the pipeline not being used

for project irrigation purposes during April through September. There

would be fish releases in the river. The pumping plant would lift the

water 310 feet to the head of Basin Canal on Wright's Mesa. The canal

would cross the mesa and continue on to Dry Creek Basin. The new ~acil-

ities would be tied in with the existing irrigation system, and Gurley

Ditch would be lined to reduce seepage losses.

This alternative plan of development would provide 12,000 acre-

feet of water for the proposed Colorado-Ute generating plant, and 2,000

acre-feet for domestic use on Wright's Mesa, for an annual total of

14,000 acre-feet of municipal and industrial water. The project would

serve l2,700'acres of 'supplemental and 7,060 acres of full service land.

A buried pipe lateral system would be built to provide pressure for the

an~icipated sprinkler irrigation system.

,
,
I

,I

ria
"

1
I
m
"
.~
!,'~
..I
di
ill
~
9
I
,

"
.
"
..
'i
II

,

~"-;~
,1,"'t;;,
"'''''';>~

j
I
,I

;
,
!
