feet/year to be desalted; YDP will produce
approxl,tnately 22,851 acrc-feeriyear that ClII1 be
marketed. '

. An additional aource of reasonable cost, high
quality water would be available for municipal
and industrial uses.

The product provided by YDP would he used by
various t~ ofindustrics, the development of
which would enhance the local community.

. ConstrUction ofYDP cost the United States
approximately $250 million. This taXpayer
invcsuncnt should be fully utilized. The unique,
cyclic Federal use oftbe YDP facility provides
an opportUnity to:

. reduce Federal funding requests by
marketing water not immediately needed to
meet the Fedcra.I obligatioDS,

. take advantage of the Fedcral investment and
immense available capacity for productive
use,

. maintain the YDP in an operable condition
for lCVentual F edcral use,

. increase apcrtise and tec:hnolocy required to
run such a plant,

. increase fic:xibility to meet unforeseen
circumstances which might necessitate
incrcuing operations of the plant.
