Springfield faces possible wa~er supply and water treatmen~
deficiencies in the near future. Shortages may occur before new
facilities can be constructed. Becuase of objections to County
Line Lake, the alternatives should be studied snd weighed before
any firm commitments are made.

Pollution problems concerning surface waters and the con~am-
ination of the wa~er in the deep aquifer need ~o be checked, so
that these potential sources of water for the city do ,not become
degraded. Wilson 'Creek especially needs controls to,al1eviate
the problems in the Wilson Creek Battlefield National Park.
